Mac OS X Like Windows Desktop

Are you a Mac or PC? While I have spent the majority of my life pledging my allegiance to the PC, in recent months I have come to appreciate the benefits associated with owning a Mackintosh. The fact is that Apple’s operating system, OS X, has an advantage over any PC operating system on the market. One of Mackintosh’s primary advantage is that their desktop features an extremely user-friendly interface. Amenities such as Dock, Expose and screen corner functionality are just a few of the tricks Apple has up its sleeve. The perks associated with Mackintosh come at a high price, since Apple refuses to make a true budget computer. Their idea of a budget system costs about $1000, which is a premium price to pay for such a stripped down machine. One can purchase a fairly nice PC for the same money. So what does one do if they want some of Apple’s user-friendly features without the absorbanent price? The adventuresome of us may attempt to create a Hackintosh (Mac operating system on PC), yet that almost always ends in frustration and disappointment. I have found that the next best thing to purchasing a Mackintosh involves installing a few open-source applications, which closely mimic the prized features of OS X.
The first is called My Expose (Vista only), which as the name suggests, emulates the Expose function on Mac. The second application, Hot Corners, enables you to set corners to show desktop or turn on your screensaver. The final application is called RocketDock, which places an OS X looking dock on your Windows desktop. The dock even displays the magnifying glass effect when you hover over the icons. If you have ever been jealous of Mac OS X functionality, go head and give these applications a try. You may just find that you can’t live without them.
