John, Have you tried using wine? I understand that Wine will let you run windows programs in linux. This way you could use DVD Shrink with Ubuntu. I ran across a web site which might help: http://www.mrbass.org/linux/ubuntu/dvdshrink/. If nothing else works, I image it would be worth it to partition your harddrive and install Windows as well. Dual boot systems are perfect for this reason.

None of these programs work under Jaunty Jackalope. Can't seem to find any DVD ripper that works for Linux! All I want to do is backup my Star Trek DVD collection to my computer. NOTHING SEEMS TO WORK! I have tried these programs, have installed all of the necessary apps under wiki.ubuntu.com/RestrictedFormats and still cannot play or even copy an encripted DVD. Ripit4me doesn't seem to be available anymore- because I suspect the Linux community is scared of lawsuits from those orgs trying to prevent any type of copy. Anyhelp would be appreciated. I am new to Linux.

Ok. Yeah, I spos I can always reboot on the Windows side for a bit, do some DVD ripping and switch back.

Regardless, it looks like you have a pretty sweet system in place for making it happen. Thanks for doing of the dirty work.

Well, I'm afraid to say it but they most likely won't without a little work. I hear that either MacTheRipper or DVDRemaster are great solutions for your mac, although I haven't had a chance to test them. You are crafty, my guess is it would be worth popping over to the PC side of your MacBook for the cause.
